Will an exhaust leak make me fail the Texas emissions test?
It can. Texas ended annual safety inspections on January 1, 2025 (House Bill 3297), but vehicles registered in Travis and Williamson County still need an annual emissions test to renew registration. A leak ahead of the oxygen sensors can skew readings and trigger the check engine light — an automatic fail. We perform emissions testing at both shops, so we can fix the leak, verify it, and re-test in one visit.
